police deploy members to protect worship centres in ogun during Christmas

The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday said policemen would be deployed to worship and event centres in Ogun state during the Yuletide festivities. Punch reports that the Spokesman for Ogun police force, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a statement that the move was aimed at ensuring a peaceful Christmas. Oyeyemi said the command was aware that the state would have a large influx of people during the period and was therefore ready for the challenge. He said, “Policemen have been strategically deployed by the state Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu across the length and breadth of the state, with a clear mandate to ensure crime-free Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. “Special units such as the PMF, FSARS, Tactical Response and Intelligence, as well as the Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism sections have also been deployed to nip criminal activities in the bud during the period and beyond.”
