There is no gainsaying the fact that Nigeria is in a precarious situation as made possible by poor leadership. It is an incontrovertible truth that Nigeria was once the giant of Africa. However, the reality now is a country infested with insecurity which has proved intractable somewhat. People often say and in most cases jokingly, that someone is playing with fire, but this time and as a matter of fact, it is Nigeria as a country that is about to be set on fire by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his APC, the ruling and the killing party in Nigeria.
As things are today, one can only speculate and guesstimate what magnitude of problems await Nigeria effective now and going into 2027. Another concerning dimension to the problem of the country is the unholy alliance between America and Nigeria in the guise of enforcing the international counter – terrorism charter of the United Nations, for selfish gains and extrinsic considerations. Is it too hasty to conclude that Nigeria is for sale? The contract Nigeria signed with a US company that provides lobbying services at a whopping amount of 9 million dollars for a period of six months, and within a short period the works of the lobbyists had fructified, as evidenced in the manner which President Donald Trump of the United States lavished undeserved presidential encomiums on the first lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at a conference held in the United States for Inter-Faith community in February 5, 2026.
There is nothing bad in seeking help when needed, but where to seek it and from whom is the issue. Remember the song of Bob Marley which says, “your best friend could be your worst enemy, and your worst enemy your best friend”. It is near insanity therefore, attempting to judge a man’s piety by his appearance on a Sunday. President Donald Trump and America can better assist Nigeria by taking interest in what is goes about the governance of the people, a major causation of the lingering insecurity problems in Nigeria. Defending Christians in Nigeria is a righteous cause, but not in the face of the biting hunger in the land. Fighting insecurity jointly gives hope, but not in the face of poverty and food insecurity, a situation that suggests a choice between two evils. If Nigerians as a people have a say in the affairs of their country, the help needed from America is in politics, especially the 2027 General elections. The illegal structures erected against all the opposition parties by the All Progressive Congress Party is already a recipe for anarchy. Nigerians are literarily living on their knees.
United Nations
Whether they are able to come to terms with the imperative of dying on their feet when the situation at hand calls for it or not is a question that agitates the minds of all perceptive Nigerians, and an answer that matures with time. Every other thing may be blurry and inaccessible to Nigerians, except that allowing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his All Retrogressive Congress Party to continue beyond 2027 is mortgaging Nigeria and truncating the colourful destinies of the people on a platter of mediocrity.

The resilience of Nigerians is being mistaken for foolery and this must be vehemently resisted and NOW. In the words of the late American Human Rights icon and former presidential candidate, Reverend Jesse Jackson, “Do not look down on anyone, except you are ready to lift him up from the ground”. May God bless his gentle soul.
