Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen has said that ‘no girl should be pulled out of school for the purposes of marriage in Nigeria.’

She gave the advise when she recommissioned the newly renovated Government Secondary School Chibok, Borno state burnt down by insurgents after they forcefully abducted 276 SS3 girls from their hostels in a commando style attack which shook the entire world in 2014.

The school structure suffered several set backs from allegedly pilfering contractors and was abandoned along the line until rainstorms destroyed many of the structures which was later renovated by Governor Zulum.

Tallen noted that parents will make the managers of the school happy if they ensured that their girls completed their secondary schools education before any other thing in life.

She commends Governor Babagana Zulum whom she noted is doing very well in terms of investment in Education infrastructure as is manifested in the rehabilitation of the school seven years after the unfortunate tragedy.

Pauline regrets that it took so long after the tragedy for the foundation re-laid on the 5th of May 2014 before it was reopened on the 10th of October 2016 for the students to resume.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on parents to support this kind gesture by ensuring that their wards go to School unfailingly. The girl child should never be withdrawn out of school for the purposes of marriage.”she stressed emotionally.

The minister added that more technical training should be given to girls so that they will excel in all their actions and endeavors to get to the top as professional women serving their societies.

With the effort of Zulum, Principal of the school, Hajia Asabe Komvulan said that the school started operations from it’s temporary site on 16th November 2020.

Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum in his remarks said that his government will support teachers who lost properties when Boko Haram raided the government secondary School Chibok to commit the sacrilege.

The Governor regrets the incident of 14th April, 2014 in which 276 school girls were taken away by Boko Haram in the twilight of their secondary education while they were about taking their West African School Certificate Examination – WAEC.

He calls for continuous prayers for the release of the remaining former school girls who are still in the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents who claim to have married them off long ago to willing interested commanders.

Zulum calls on the management of the institution to investigate the real number of teaching staff in the school to ensure that funds are not diverted to unnecessary ghosts when there is so much to be done.

He admonishes the people to send their wards to school as a sign of ensuring that they utilize the school’s facilities to the maximum.

The Governor further charges the religious leaders to continue preaching peace among the people so that the dark incident of 2014 and beyond will not reoccur.
About 40,000 furniture have been released so far to different schools in the state to boost their education so far.
Highlight of the occasion was the distribution of certain text books donated by the state government to the students.
