The impeachment trial of the embattled former President Donald J. Trump in respect of his alleged incitement of insurrection against the Government of the Unites States of America which is ongoing is too significant to be swept under the carpet. The whole world is watching and expecting that a spade should be called a spade just as a thief deserves to be called no other names than a thief.
Democracy which America is seen as the custodian and a beacon of light that shines to the whole world is incomplete without relevant and appropriate laws and their enforcement. In the absence of laws and their enforcement, democracy is not different from a vehicle without an engine. It is hypocrisy of the highest order for one to live a kind of life in public and another in private. The ongoing trial is not to be seen as witch-hunting and vindictive but as an exercise that is required which may not be convenient.
As long as the loyalty of the congress men is to the nation America and their allegiance to the flag and going by the oath sworn, there is no reason whatsoever that should make anyone of them lose focus by pursuing the shadow at the expense of the substance. These indeed are trying times for America and it is important to note that, the reputation of this great country of freedom, justice and liberty is at stake.

The Formal National President of Germany one said “all of us whether guilty or not, whether old or young, must accept the past. It is not a case of coming to terms with the past that is not possible. it cannot be subsequently modified or undone. However, anyone who closes his eyes to the past is blind to the present. For whosoever refuses to remember the inhumanity is prone to new risk of infection. Seeking to forget makes the exile all the longer. The secret of redemption lies in remembrance.”
One may argue that Mr. Donald Trump is already out of office and therefore does not deserve or should not be tried. This argument can only make sense and logical if it is constitutionally and morally justified or supported, for it is not enough for it to find relevance in the constitution without being morally approved. Formal president Mr. Donald Trump as every other president before him has “lived his life” and will certainly “die his death” but history does not die.

On a final note, this trial of the formal president Donald Trump on his alleged incitement of insurrection against the government of America and where the pendulum swings is a litmus test for democracy and the American people, for democracy as a vehicle cannot drive itself without a driver. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr.; “When evil men pluck, good men must plant. When evil men burn and bomb, good men must build and bind. When evil men shout ugly words of hatred, good men must commit themselves to the glories of love”
This is a clarion call to all Americans to once again step up and stand for justice. Together, YES WE CAN God bless America
